AMIGO, now showing!
Set in the Philippines, 1900 during the Philippine–American War, AMIGO evolves around the character Rafael Dacanay, cabeza of Barrio San Isidro, Luzon.
Rafael’s brother Simón, the local revolutionary leader, has forced the surrender of the Spanish guardia civil outpost. Simon charged Rafael with imprisoning the guardia Captain and the barrio’s Spanish friar, Padre Hidalgo in the name of the revolutionary government.
When the American troops chasing General Aguinaldo arrive, the Spanish officer and Padre Hidalgo are freed, and Lieutenant Ike Compton and his garrison are left to ‘protect’ the barrio.
The American occupation policy now changes and Rafael has to answer to both the American soldiers and the Filipino guerrillas, with potential deadly consequences.
The American drama film is written and directed by Sayles, and casts Joel Torre, Chris Cooper, DJ Qualls, Bembol Roco, Rio Locsin, Pen Medina and Irma Adlawan.
Amigo is now showing at SM Davao Cinema. For inquiries, please call 297.6998 local 122.
