Earth Hour at SM Davao

Last March 27, SM Davao once again, joined the rest of the world in observing the Earth Hour. This is SM City Davao’s 3rd time to observe the Earth Hour by shutting off a percentage of its lights from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

Making the event more meaningful, Dabawenyos gathered at the SM Davao Open Grounds to witness a cause-worthy activity for the Earth. The program was made possible by the Green Alliance for Davao, with the tourism industry-related organizations of the region.

The ceremonial switch off was done by Green Alliance for Davao convenor Baby Montemayor, Department of Energy Assistant Secretary Leonilo Lariosa, Regional Development Council Chair Vicente Lao, SM Supermalls Regional Operations Manager Debby Go and Davao City Councilor Susabel Reta while representatives from other equally supportive organizations lighted a giant wok to symbolize hope.

Among the organizations who also expressed support during the activity were: the Davao Light and Power Company, ICT Davao, HEDCOR, Jollibee, Phil. Women's College of Davao, Junior Jaycees, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of the Phils. Davao Chapter, Davao Tourism Association, Phoenix, Mindanao Business Council, PIA, and Holiday Bus.
