Last July 26, SM City Davao through its SM Cares Committee on the Environment held a Biofuel forum at the mall’s Event Centre. The same forum was mounted in other SM malls in the country. The project is done in partnership with the Department of Energy.
In Davao, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources XI and the local government through the offices of Liga ng Barangay chair Hon. Paolo Duterte and City Council Committee on Energy, Transportation and Communications chair Hon Pilar Braga also supported the cause.
The forum was geared towards informing the public of the Clean Air Act, biofuels and its potentials. Department of Energy Research Specialist Engr. Mon Leonor shared ‘Tipid Pasada Tips’ to the drivers, operators and barangay officials who attended the said forum. Chemist Dr. Zenaida Ochotorena of Freyvonne Milling Services also graced the activity.
“With SM Supermall’s reach, we become a venue for information drives and promotion of environmental advocacies,” SM Davao mall manager Lynette Lopez says. “We are committed not only to green mall operations but also to engaging our shoppers and business partners in this (environmental) crusade.”
SM is known to operate world-class malls with due consideration to energy efficiency, water conservation, air quality and solid waste management.
