The idea of “teachers' day” was inspired by an Indian tradition in remembrance of the a great educator.
World Teacher’s Day is celebrated across the world on October 5th, with great verve and enthusiasm. It is intended to be a special day for the appreciation of teachers.
Joining the Department of Education and the rest of the world, SM City Davao recognizes the great task bestowed upon educators of molding the minds of future generations of Filipinos.
“October 5 is a day to honor our teachers who play a critical role in guiding our children and in providing them lifelong learning,” said Education Secretary Armin Luistro.
This year’s theme, ‘My Teacher, My Hero’, is DepEd’s month-long campaign to acknowledge the unique role teachers play in guiding families, strengthening societies and building nations.
From October 1 to 5, students are encouraged to express their gratitude to their mentors at SM’s Wall of Greetings located at the Event Centre. On October 5, kids from Circular Homes, Precious International School of Davao, Little Pearls of Heaven, the Values School and Beginning Childcare Center mounts a special treat for their beloved teachers in an afternoon of music and dance (4:00 PM, Event Centre). The Association of Creative Artist Inc., is also set to perform a special number for the unsung modern-day heroes.
To top it all, teachers can get special freebies and discounts from participating stores at SM Davao on October 3-5!
