The National Children’s Book Reading Day is celebrated every 3rd Tuesday of July in commemoration of the publication of Philippine national hero Dr. Jose Rizal’s “Ang Pagong at Ang Matsing” (The Turtle and the Monkey) at the Trubner’s Oriental Record in London.
SM City Davao, through SM Cares Committee on Youth and Children’s Welfare, along with more than 40 SM malls nationwide will be celebrating Children’s Book Day on July 19. SM malls in China- SM Xiamen, SM Chengdu and SM Jinjiang will also be joining the celebration.
The campaign aims to promote reading among kids. The program at SM City Davao will be at the Event Centre, 10:30 AM SM will also be donating books and magazines to the Davao City Special School as part of SM Foundation’s Donate-a-Book program. SPED Bangkal was reported to have lost book collections recently due to the flooding incident that hit the City last June 29.
